High bay lighting is often appropriate when larger indoor spaces need to be illuminated. Consider spaces such as manufacturing facilities, stadiums, warehouses, large department stores, factories, etc.; these facilities are often large and cover a large amount of vertical and horizontal space. This requires powerful lighting to provide the appropriate foot-candle levels for adequate illumination. High bay lighting fixtures are typically suspended from the ceiling via hooks, chains, or pendants, or they can be fixed directly to the ceiling (similar to troffer lights).
